DIET

I'm not a big fan of the word "diet" in the context it is used these days. It's a negative, self esteem crushing four letter word. Diet is simply the food in which you eat. However we have taken it and manipulated it into the word we know it to be today. My idea of a diet is simple eating. If you are on a "diet" then you have a particular goal in mind, usually weight loss and you are usually including too much and too little of a certain food group. It's usually over thought and stressed about day in and day out, until the stress of deprivation begins to be too much for us to handle and we go over the edge and stop the diet. Let's throw out the negativity associated with the word for a moment and use it the way it should be used. To stay on track and get healthy, lose weight, gain muscle and all out feel better, our diet is KEY to those goals. Eating the corrects foods and the correct times. It's about reprogramming our thinking about food, our relationship with food and our bodies. You must not only eat the correct foods but we must eat them often. Start your day by drinking water, 8-12 ounces of plain or lemon water. Eat within 30 minutes of getting up. Eat a well rounded breakfast and never skip it. Eat every 2.5-3.5 hours after that. Finish dinner at least 3 hours before bed. Finish drinking fluids 2 hours before bed. Clean the kitchen after dinner and close it up. If you do get hungry, find something to do. If you're eating enough during the day, then that hunger you are feeling is either thirst or boredom. For more tips or a customized eating plan of your own, contact me. Most importantly: Listen to your body. Get in tune with the signs and signals. If your eating is out of control, then find out why. It's not "just because". Happy Monday!
